Since 2012, Irina Golovanova has delivered training programmes for leading organisations across the banking, consulting, pharmaceutical and legal sectors in Portugal. She holds a formal teaching qualification by the Novosibirsk State University and has been teaching since 2005, driven not only by credentials but by genuine vocation.
Between 2014 and 2018, she served as a guest lecturer at the Academia Militar, teaching on the Master’s programmes "Information Warfare" and "Leadership: People and Organisations".
Since 2019, she has been a guest lecturer at the National Firefighters School, delivering modules within the Command Promotion Course. Since 2023, she has been teaching on the Basic Command Course at the Portuguese Air Force Academy and the Military University Institute.
In 2024, she completed a degree in Speech and Language Therapy at the Higher School of Health Sciences of Alcoitão, expanding her clinical and research-based knowledge in voice, speech, and communication sciences.

From her early academic years through to the development of her doctoral thesis, research has always been a constant in Irina's professional journey. This same evidence-based approach now guides the work carried out at the academy she founded in Portugal in 2014 — The Body Language Academy.
Whether speaking, providing media commentary or delivering training, Irina ensures that every concept, framework and message is grounded in solid data and rigorous scientific foundations.
Her first study conducted in Portugal dates back to 2013 and explored the question: “What do the Portuguese think about their nonverbal communication?”
In 2015, she co-supervised a research project at the Military Academy examining the nonverbal communication of Cavalry Officers and its impact on subordinates performance.
In 2016, she led a nationwide survey with her team to understand how Portuguese people interpret commonly used gestures, titled “What Do Our Gestures Say?”
More recently, between 2022 and 2023, in partnership with Carla Rocha, she conducted a corporate study analysing the relationship between what leaders say, how they communicate, the image they project and their teams’ performance. The results of this research are available for download in the brochure.
